Supporting your body through Autumn
As Autumn is now upon us its now time to prepare our bodies for the colder months. Our bodies must begin to harvest and store energy for Winter to aid in warming from the inside. It’s time to rid your body of the Summer heat which decreases strength and develop internal warmth that will improve it. Wind is also a problem through the months of Autumn and the dryness can be felt externally on our skin and internally through our lungs.
External signs of dryness include
- Dry Lips
- Dry Skin
- Itchiness
- Wrinkles
Internal signs include
- Dry throat
- Dry cough
- Constipation
Although dryness can be felt year round, the changes in weather, decreased temperatures and increased wind can mean the above symptoms are exacerbated. Primarily effected by dryness is your lungs and partner organ the large intestine. Dry coughs that can be harsh and prolonged as well as constipation can often be experienced in this time. To combat these issues we have a few tips
- Eat foods that will moisten and clear the lungs and support the digestive systems
- Eat less salad and more soup
- Avoid quick fried foods and start to cook your meat and vegetables for longer
- Increase salt intake and add a little extra to your meals
We need to start building our immune system and strength to avoid all those Winter colds.
