Couples Therapy
Couples Therapy assists couples to identify, understand and resolve their conflict, giving them the opportunity to improve and enhance their relationship. When conflict occurs in relationships, many couples wonder: Is this really working? Do we really belong together? Developing better communication skills can benefit and strengthen a relationship. Some couples feel they already have skills but need to express themselves more effectively, other couples- whose relationship has deteriorated- need to develop skills to manage the conflict. Couples therapy enables the couple to develop skills and tools to communicate better, negotiate differences, problem solve and even argue in a healthier way.
Infidelity, anger, communication problems and illness can all contribute to conflict and distress in relationships. Couples therapy can resolve conflict and heal emotional wounds.
For couples needing to enhance their skills or get through a crisis, therapy may only be short term requiring only a few sessions. However, if your relationship has greatly deteriorated, therapy may take longer and require seeing a psychologist, to help mediate and advise once a week.
